Max Kade Foundation, Inc.

Grants

The Max Kade Foundation is an endowed Private Foundation. It only entertains proposals for grants from educational institutions and/or charitable organizations that have been determined by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt public charities under section 501(c)(3) of the Tax Code. By law the Foundation does not approve any grant proposals from individuals directly.

Applicants should submit a letter of request which includes the following:

  • Name and address of applying organization

  • Description of the proposed project and the specific amount requested

  • A copy of the organization’s IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter

  • The time frame of the project.

All grant proposals should be in writing and addressed to:

Lya Friedrich Pfeifer, JD
Max Kade Foundation, Inc.
6 East 87th Street
New York, NY 10128

The Foundation does not accept grants via e-mail. Grant requests may be submitted at any time during the year. Larger grant proposals will be submitted for approval to the Board of Directors which meets twice a year. Once grants have been approved, any additional required information would need to be furnished to the Foundation before the actual grant is paid.

Multi-year grant commitments are not encouraged. It is the policy of the Foundation to make grants only on a yearly basis and only one grant per applying organization can be made for the same general purpose each year.

The Foundation requests that the recipients of our grants submit a written report Including all budget information upon completion of the project or term of exchange. We expect these reports to precisely describe the project and its execution and account for the expenditures of all grant funds. The Foundation specifically requests that the approved grant funds be used only for the purpose for which they were granted. Should there be an excess of funds, said moneys must be refunded to the Foundation.
