MAX KADE HOUSES AND RESIDENCES ABROAD
The Foundation, following the desire for international
understanding, supports the renovation and construction of
student residences, cafeterias (mensen) and learning
centers where German-speaking students and American
students can share academic and cultural ideas . The
Foundation is willing to promote and support the aims of
Universities and “Studentenwerk” in Germany and other
German-speaking countries by providing “seed money” for
the refurbishment of dormitories in these university towns
abroad. In exchange for our donation, the “Studentenwerk”
agrees to set aside a certain percentage of the living spaces
for American students. The administration of these
dormitories and selection of students is left to the
management of the requisite “Studentenwerk”.
MAX KADE HOUSES AND RESIDENCES IN THE
UNITED STATES
The Foundation supports the establishment of houses and
institutes at various American Universities and Colleges to
offer a forum in which students reside together and choose
to speak German on a daily basis. By so doing, students
gain a greater understanding of the histories, the cultures,
and political, economic, and social developments of German-
speaking countries and their impact on past, present and
future students. In addition schools invite writers-in-
residence and distinguished professors who participate in
the schools’ academic program which will significantly
strengthen a college’s diversified German program.
